Events Calendar
The Traverse City area hosts a wide variety of festivals throughout the year. By far our largest annual event is the National Cherry Festival, held in early July in downtown Traverse City. Other major celebrations throughout the year are listed below, with links to the official sites if available.

Historical Walking Tours
The tours depart from the Heritage Center, which is located at 322 Sixth Street in Traverse City. There are two tours per week. Tour dates and times are Tuesdays and Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. Guides are experienced volunteers Carol Hale and Fred Hoisington of Traverse City.
The historical walking tours are approximately two hours in length. Comfortable walking shoes are encouraged. Among the destinations are the historic homes and buildings on Sixth Street, Front Street, Wellington Street, and State Street, among others.
Advance reservation is required for the tour. Tickets are $10 per person. Group reservations are also accepted. For reservations call (231) 995-0313.
Individuals who participate in the tour on Tuesday and Saturdays will also have access to the Museum of History and the new, temporary exhibits.
Acme Farm Market
Stop by the Acme Farm Market, every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Oct. 17. Local vendors are featured including: Uncle Kenn's Kettle Corn (watch it made), homemade baked goods, plants and hanging baskets, eco-friendly soils/fertilizers, Hypertufa planters, wildflower suncatchers, fruits and vegi’s (in season), and more. The market is located next to the Stained Glass Cabinet Company, 4160 M-72 East. Interested vendors call 231-938-2007.
Arts of the Woodland Indians
This exhibition draws from the museum's collection of art by the Woodland Indians. Not only does this exhibition include excellent examples of quillwork and sweetgrass basketry from both Michigan and Ottawa artists, but also prints by artists of the famed woodland or Anishinabe style of painting, such as Norval Morrisseau and Roy Thomas.
Hours: Mon-Sat 10 am - 5 pm, Sun 1 - 5 pm, Thurs - Open until 8 pm. Admission: Adults $6, Children $4 The museum is closed on major holidays.
Haunted Hayrides
Haunted Hayride will take place from 6-10 pm every Friday and Saturday in October leaving from Hearth and Vine Cafe across from the Tasting Room. The price is $10/per person for an evening of fright. Pizzas and sandwiches will be made available for purchase in the cafe and of course, wine and mulled cider will also be available.
Sara Hardy Downtown Farmers Market

Grimfell Asylum
Evernight Entertainment will once again be opening "Grimfell Asylum" Haunted Attraction in Traverse City. This Fall The Asylum Doors Open...let the madness and screaming begin!!! This year as last year, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the "Munson Breast Health Center". The Asylum will be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in October as well as November 1. $7

Field of Screams Haunted Hayride
Travel in the dark...down to the abyss of terror on a tractor - pulled hay wagon through the haunted forest. Enjoy eerie theatrics, startling events, ghouls and spooks. Hang on to your loved ones and hope you make it back for hot cider and donuts. $10 per victim. Friday nights are family night, children 12 and under half price when accompanied by an adult. Jacob's Corn Maze
Jacob's Corn Maze is an "A-Maze-ing" Farm Adventure." Jacob's three separate corn mazes are fun for everyone, young and old alike. Our pumpkin patch features "Super Freak" pumpkins. Admission: Adults $8, kids 3 - 11 yrs $5, under 3 yrs Free.
3rd Annual Haunted House & Hayride
Admission: $7 per person, $5 per person with a group of 10 or more. Proceeds will be donated to a local charity. On Sat. Oct 31st there will be a live band and costume contest.
Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Inuit Print
The Dennos Museum Center at Northwestern Michigan College of Traverse City, Michigan will organize an exhibition consisting of 50 prints in observance of this significant 50th Anniversary milestone. Prints will be selected from the Museum's collection and represent each year of the 50 year history of Inuit printmaking beginning with 1959. The museum holds prints from co-operatives including Baker Lake, Cape Dorset, Holman, Pangnirtung, as well as miscellaneous and independent co-operatives. The prints exhibited will also include a Cape Dorset 2009 Annual Print Collection release.
The exhibition will open with the date of the annual release sale of the Cape Dorset 2009 Annual Print Collection. This will also coincide with the annual meeting of the Inuit Art Society consisting of Inuit Art collectors throughout the United States who will meet at the Dennos Museum Center the weekend of the Annual Dorset Collection release.

"A Holiday Sampler" Annual Arts & Crafts Fair
The Holiday Sampler Arts & Crafts Fair will feature over 60 artisans displaying and selling hand-crafted items. The Candy Cane Café in the lower level is open for morning coffee and donuts, and for lunch. 1003 South Maple Street, Traverse City.
Hoxsie's Family Farm Festival
Shop at our well stocked market. Travel through the corn maze or play on the haystack in the Big Red Barn. Ride on the big blue farm wagon to the pumpkin patch and apple orchard. Hoxsie's Farm Market is located 2 3/4 miles east of Acme on M-72.

The Bob & Tom Show is heard coast-to-coast on over 150 stations. Locally in the Traverse City area, Bob and Tom are heard mornings on The Bear 98.1. Many of the best comedians in North America appear weekly on The Bob and Tom Show. These comedians are all headliners and often have TV credentials ranging from Comedy Central to Late Night with David Letterman. Stargazing- Public Viewing
Students from the NMC Astronomy Club and Grand Traverse Astronomical Society are hosting an opportunity to Stargaze in order to expose more people to astronomy. They have scheduled weekly viewing nights to commemorate 2009 as the International Year of Astronomy. Programming will be different each week. Souvenirs like a "star finder" map of the sky will be available.

Haunted Grand Traverse Lighthouse
Visit the Haunted Grand Traverse Lighthouse for some chilling, scary surprises. Tour the decorated, spooky keepers dwelling and/or venture through the scary basement. Outdoor straw maze, pirate ship with cannons, lighted outdoor Halloween decorations. A special prized will be given to costumed guests.
