Elk Rapids Historical Museum
In the late 19th century, the Antrim County port of Elk Rapids was Traverse City?s major commercial rival, a prosperous town built around shipping, lumbering and a busy local ironworks. Exhibits from that era are of display in the lower level of the restored Elk Rapids Township Hall, a handsome building that faces the city?s park and beach on East Grand Traverse Bay. Open all year, 1-4 p.m. except Mondays.
