Grand Traverse History Walk

Walking past the beaches and parks of Traverse City?s bayfront, it?s easy to forget that this was once a working port with busy wharves, warehouses and factories. To preserve the memory of that bustling waterfront era, the Grand Traverse Pioneer and Historical Society has placed 14 historical markers along the West Bay segment of the Traverse Area Recreational Trail. Each marker includes photographs and text explaining the significance of a particular site.
